Tips for Landowners
Create Defensible Space
- 0-5 feet: Keep area clear of combustible materials
- 5-30 feet: Maintain lean, clean, and green vegetation
- 30-100 feet: Reduce fuel and create spacing between plants
Home Hardening
- Use fire-resistant roofing materials
- Install ember-resistant vents
- Clear gutters regularly
- Screen or enclose decks
Maintenance Schedule
- Spring: Clear dead vegetation
- Summer: Monitor and maintain defensible space
